Cierra St. Germain and Noah Beaulne from Ecole secondaire Hanmer are the first SDSSAA High School Athletes of the Week of 2019.

St. Germain, a Grade 11 student, has become an integral part of the school’s athletic program. She started the school year playing on the senior boys volleyball team as an adept setter, while also serving as a point guard on the senior girls’ basketball team, which the school hadn’t fielded in many years. She’s now an important part of the senior girls volleyball team, which is currently 2-2 on the season.

Her game sense, her skill set and her competitive nature make St. Germain a force on the court. As badminton season approaches, she’s gearing up to defend her back-to-back SDSSAA and NOSSA titles in women’s singles with hopes of making an OFSAA appearance this year.

Beaulne, a Grade 9 student, has already made an impact on his school’s athletic program. An all-around athlete, he began the year by qualifying for OFSAA in cross-country running, while emerging as an imposing blocking force in the middle on the junior boys volleyball team.

When it comes to basketball, his height and his determination has made him an important part of the team’s success in Division I this season.
