After a staggering response to the Boyne Regional Library Expansion and Renovation committee’s Wine Survivor, the group has decided to offer up a second competition to allow those already on a waiting list to get involved.

“We sold out the first one in about a week, and with people signing up for the waiting list, we just thought we should start another,” said committee member, Laurie Wood. “We’ll have both competitions running side-by-side with two separate pools.”

The first competition welcomed 25 teams of four people into the survivor pool, and the second will be exactly the same. Currently, eight teams are signed up for the second Wine Survivor, and if it fills up it will be another $1,500 to the renovation fund.

“It may not be a lot of money but we need to get the word out that we’re still shy of our first goal and we owe it people and businesses that have donated to try out best to get shovels in the ground in 2019,” explained Wood.

The renovation/expansion committee has raised over $800K already and needs to get over the $900,000 mark if they want to get construction started in the New Year.

“I’m hoping this will get people thinking about us because we’ve had people say they plan to donate but we haven’t heard from them yet and we’re approaching the end of the year and we want people to be able to get their tax receipts before 2019,” she added.

Businesses or individuals who donate would receive a tax receipt if they get their donation in before the end of 2018.
