Carman RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Provincial Road 306 and Municipal Road 12N at approximately 1:50 a.m., on March 15, 2020, located approximately three kilometres south of Plum Coulee.

The investigation has determined that a vehicle, being driven by a 16-year-old male from Schanzenfeld, was heading westbound on Road 12N when it lost control, entered the ditch, and collided with a hydro pole.

The 16-year-old driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased on scene. Two other male occupants in the vehicle, an 18-year old and 17-year-old who were both wearing their seatbelts, were assessed by EMS. The 18-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the 17-year-old was treated and released.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.

Carman RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continues to investigate.
