165 hampers delivered by Carman and District Christmas Cheer
The Carman and District Christmas Cheer Board packed and delivered 165 hampers, an increase of 13 from 2017, during this year’s 3-day packing and distribution blitz earlier this week. “Our board is very thankful for the volunteers in our community,” said Cheer Board Chair, Deana Hendricks. “Donations from individuals, churches, businesses, schools throughout our delivery area make filling the hampers possible. Students from Elm Creek, Carman Collegiate, as well as Dufferin Christian set up and tore down the hall, came to sort food, pack and deliver hampers.” Approximately 200 other volunteers packed food and gifts, cut wrapping paper, wrote Christmas cards and counted thousands of boxes in order to label all the hampers with details so that all boxes were delivered to the correct home. Hampers were sent within Carman and down the highways to St Claude, Rathwell, Haywood, Elm Creek, Roseisle, Graysville, Stephenfield, Roland, Sperling, Homewood, Fannystelle and everywhere in between. Hendricks adds it truly was a community effort.
