It was just an informational meeting but it could be a sign of things to come according to Jason Sygnet.
The director of the Carman-Dufferin Recreation Commission was referring to a CDRC meeting on April 24.
The meeting involved user group representatives including soccer and baseball, about introducing user fees for some of the facilities managed by the rec commission for the Town of Carman and Rural Municipality of Dufferin.
Sygnet said the would include baseball diamonds and soccer fields.

"Costs do go up and it would be similar to how we run the arena," Sygnet said. "It's not about cost recovery - dollar for dollar - it's more about offsetting costs.
"We're not looking at charging groups 'thousands of dollars'," he explained. "But we will take a look at other similar sized communities with similar facilities and services and examine how much they charge."

No decision - yet
But he was quick to add that the user fee issue has not been decided and will not affect the current season for the users.
"It's not for this year. It's going to probably be a next year type of thing for baseball and soccer in 2009," he said. "It's going to take some time before we make any final decisions."
