Golden Prairie Arts Council is known in the Carman area simply as "GPAC". It is made up of a board of eleven arts orientated minds with two energetic employees, Jane McDonald and Brenda Kidd. Many are often amazed to learn what GPAC organizes and sets in place.

It's been over a month since the new law banning the use of cell phones and texting without using a hands-free device while driving has been in effect in Manitoba. And in the Carman and surrounding area, local RCMP said motorists for the most part have been following the ban.

A 7-year-old boy from the Rural Municipality of Macdonald was rushed by ambulance to Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre following an accident involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. Portage la Prairie RCMP and emergency medical services were called to the scene on August 27 at about 11:30 a.m.
